Heron Way A are the year 6 football tournament winners after beating Southwater A in tonight’s final at the Tanbridge astroturf. Southwater took an early lead and then proceeded to miss a golden opportunity to double their lead as one of their players broke through but with only the keeper to beat fired straight at him. Heron Way equalized just before half time and then with just 90 seconds left on the clock struck the killer blow to win 2-1.
Leechpool A took third place with a late goal against Kingslea A in their play-off game. St Mary’s Pulborough celebrated their two goals against Northolmes like they’d won the World Cup rather than the Year 6 Cup, although in reality they achieved fifth place!
Shelley’s topsy-turvy night of results was completed with a win over Southwater B in the seventh place decider. Heron Way B beat Castlewood 1-0 to take ninth and Leechpool B defeated Kingslea B by a similar scoreline to come eleventh.
