Southwater Go Double at the Dodge
Southwater enjoyed double success at tonight’s year 5+6 Horsham primary schools dodgeball tournament. Their A team became champions off the back of a sequence of four straight wins climaxing with a 2-0 defeat of Leechpool A in the final. Southwater B suffered a first phase loss to Kingslea A but bounced back in fine style in Phase 2 Division B again beating a Leechpool team, B, in the final. West Chiltington A beat Arunside 3-0 in the Division B final.
Aside from the teams that reached the final another particular well done to small school Northolmes for punching above their weight to win three of their four matches, their only defeat coming narrowly to overall champions Southwater A, 2-1.
Thankfully the weather held good on the outdoor multicourt facilities at The Bridge to enable a great event played in a fair spirit. Having 13 teams (around 100 children) in action from nine local schools certainly evidences the growing popularity of the sport.
Anyone interested in playing junior dodgeball in Horsham out of school should note that 8-15 year olds are welcome to Horsham Sports Services’ weekly club that runs at The Bridge (indoors) on Thursday evenings 6-7pm – see information and online booking site
