Pool A of the Horsham Primary Schools Netball League finally got underway at The Bridge tonight with 8 teams from six schools contesting a first meeting of 14 matches total.

Leechpool A wasted no time in putting their stamp on proceedings, opening with an 8-0 victory over Greenway before scoring 37 more goals on their way to three more wins. Southwater played three matches on the way to their maximum points haul and their wins were achieved under more challenge with Castlewood in particular piutting up a good fight in a 4-2 match.

Indeed Castlewood sit third after winning their two other matches. St Andrew’s Nuthurst also won two from their four to also end on 12 points but with a much inferior goal difference to the Castles.

Leechpool B also had a tight encounter with Castlewood, losing out 2-1, and whilst their A team hit them hard, a 5-1 win over Greenway lifted them to mid-table status. They finished on eight points, similar to Leechpool C who had a tough night conceding 32 goals in their first three games before rescuing their evening with a win over Greenway.

Shelley had a difficult start with two heavy losses but recovered in their third fixture against Leechpool C with an 8-1 win. Greenway lost all four of its fixtures but can take consolation from the fact that there were two teams with far worse defensive records than them.

Second and final Pool A Phase 1 meeting to run on 30th November.
