The Year 5+6 football league concluded tonight on Tanbridge’s astroturf. Heron Way A and Southwater A each won their pools and proceeded to win their semis against Kingslea A and Southwater B respectively to set up a final between the two which the Herons won convincingly 2-0 courtesy of two second half strikes.
Third place went to Kingslea A for beating Southwater B 4-0 in their play-off game. Leechpool A and Heron Way B drew to share fifth spot. St Mary’s Pulborough climaxed a good night for them with a 4-0 win over Leechpool B to come seventh. Shelley won by the odd goal in five over Castlewood to take ninth. Arunside hit three against Kingslea B to take eleventh and in the bottom placings sort out Cowfold hit a late winner against Kingslea C to take thirteenth and then Plaistow did similar against the Kings third team to take fourteenth.
Unfortunately a late burst of heavy rain put paid to the presentation plans which would have included thanks to all parties involved but particularly the sterling efforts of the young referees Rachael, Izzy and Rosie.
