The final chapter of this year’s netball league took place at The Bridge last night as seven teams convened to contest the Tier 3 and Tier 4 play-offs, a meeting re-scheduled after the weather cancellation of the original date before Easter due to heavy rain.

Tier 3 produced some good matches with all players and teams giving good evidence of the progress they had made over the course of the season. Steyning B players were a bit smaller than their opponents but fought like tigers and their efforts were rewarded with a last match win against Leechpool C. Leechpool C were also gritty giving a good account in all matches and despite losing two picked up bonus points in both for scoring at least half their opponents’ scores.

North Heath also played a good tournament with some nippy passing and intercepting but after a. draw and a victory fell at the last to a 6-2 defeat to Heron Way, the eventual winners. The Herons players combined some good movement, teamwork and strength with some high stature to win all their games, but they knew they had been in a match with everyone which was good to see.

In a three-team Tier 4 Nuthurst B had a slightly more comfortable time in ensuring their pre-eminence. Kingslea B were accounted for 4-0 before Northolmes were put to the sword 13-0 so well done to them. Kingslea took second courtesy of their 7-0 win over Northolmes. Well done to Northolmes for maintaining their spirits well in defeat.
