Leechpool Take Year 3/4 Dodgeball Title
Leechpool A won an exciting Horsham Primary Schools Year 3+4 Dodgeball Competition at The Bridge tonight, emerging pre-eminent from an entry field of nine teams from six schools and weather conditions, cold but calm, which were excellent for the time of year.
The competition was split into three phases, each one where teams were grouped into three groups of three. Leechpool A, St Robert Southwell and Southwater A all won their two games in stage 1 to end up in the top, winners group for the next phase.
Leechpool A and Southwater A continued their good form to remain unbeaten in the winners group, with St Robert Southwell being the team to suffer with losses to both. Leechpool A topped the group courtesy of sets difference but this small advantage was academic as both remained put in the highest tier for the final reckoning of Phase 3.
Arunside, unlucky to be nudged out by Leechpool A in the opening group, joined the top table as a result of squeezing past Leechpool B in the runners-up group to gain promotion. 2-1 was the scoreline when they went head to head. Northolmes took the plunge the other way from the runners-up group as a result of losing both games.
So to the business end. Leechpool A repeated their first round victory over Arunside to put themselves in pole position and although Southwater A yet again held them to a 2-2 draw, Arunside’s 2-0 triumph over the Southies meant they were champions with Arunside taking second spot.
St Robert Southwell edged out Leechpool B on goal difference to win Division 2 after both beat Southwater B and the two shared a 1-1 draw. Northolmes’ Division 3 success was a little more conclusive with two wins, although second placed Castlewood put up a good fight when the two met, going down 2-1.
