It’s been a fantastic primary schools netball season so far and as Division A met for its last meeting on Thursday there was no let up in the quality and excitement.

First there was the business of finishing off the round-robin that would inform the later rounds of play-off games. Nuthurst A made their bid for a play-off final place first by beating North Heath 4-0. They needed All Saints to either beat Leechpool A or hold them to a draw but unfortunately for them none of these two outcomes materialised as Leechpool put in a powerful performance to win 4-0 and inflict All Saints’ first second phase defeat. 

The fixture gods therefore dictated the final was to be a re-run of that same Leechpool A versus All Saints fixture. Leechpool were heavy favourites having demolished them in the first game but the repeat offering was a much different affair as the Saints rallied strongly to make it a much closer game, albeit one that they still came out the wrong side of by the odd goal in five. Well done to Leechpool for their success.

So near but so far for Nuthurst A too, however they drowned their sorrows by beating a Southwater A team that had earlier smashed Shelley 7-0, with an impressive 3-0 win to earn third place.

Nuthurst B took fifth place courtesy of a 3-1 victory over Leechpool B, another fixture deja-vu following their earlier 2-2 encounter on the night. North Heath’s single goal against Shelley A was enough to ensure they came in seventh place.
