Kingslea won the Horsham Area Large Primary Schools Rounders Tournament on Tuesday morning at Millais School topping a field of eight. They beat a strong Leechpool team that they had drawn with earlier in the piece by 9.5 points to 6.5.
The teams were split into two groups of four in the first phase. Leechpool and Kingslea dominated group A and the former topped it on runs difference. Group B was much tighter with all teams suffering at least one defeat but Shelley and Heron Way both winning two, the former taking top spot by winning the head-to-head against the Herons.
The second phase split the teams into two tiers based on positions from Phase 1. Leechpool beat Heron Way and Kingslea did likewise with Shelley to set up the final that Kingslea won. Decisive Lower Tier wins for Southwater and North Heath set up another excellent final which Southwater edged.
