A great night for St Robert Southwell at the Horsham Area Primary Schools Year 3+4 Basketball Tournament tonight at Kingslea School. Out of a field of eight teams from five schools both of their two got to the Tier 1 final and the A team emerged victorious over the B team by 8-2.

Both of the Robert Southwell teams emerged as top dogs from their first phase groups of four although both were a held to draw by teams that failed to qualify for the top tier.

Any hint of vulnerability was dismissed in Phase 2 as both stepped on the scoring gas, Rob South B smashing through Kingslea C’s resistance and Rob South A getting into double figures also but also conceding regularly against a competitive Castlewood team who fell just two points short.

Well done to Shelley for regaining their mojo in the second phase Tier 2. They came  bottom of Group B as a consequence of two defeats and a draw but rallied strongly after the re-shuffle by beating Kingslea A in a semi-final shoot-out decider after finishing level at full time and then beating Oakfields convincingly in the final, 8-0.

Thanks to Horsham Hawks Basketball Club for providing officiating support to the event. Judging by the skills on show the Hawks should have some additional talent coming their way in the coming years.
