Storrington Primary is the champion table tennis school in the Horsham District after tonight’s team matchplay competition at Forest School in Horsham.

Nine teams of two from four schools attended the event and Storrington’s A (Will B and Theo B) and B (Wren N and Josh W) teams gained the top two positions respectively, effectively contesting a final in the last round of matches in which the A’s nudged it with an exciting 6-5 win.

Each team match was comprised of four timed singles matches and two points were awarded for a win, one for a draw and one for a loss scoring 50% or more of the opponent’s winning score. 

Kingslea D did well to emerge from a tight Phase 1 group as winners but struggled to dent the Storrington steamrollers in Phase 2. Third represents a good night’s work for them nonetheless.

The second phase middle group was an all Kingslea affair which the A team topped above its B and C colleagues whilst in the lower tier Jolesfield narrowly got the better of Upper Beeding A by virtue of scoring a bigger win over Upper Beeding B. Upper Beeding have been playing TT for only a short time at their school so despite finishing in the lower reaches can be proud of their performances. 

Well done to all 18 players involved for putting on a great display of table tennis and doing their schools credit with their behaviour.
