Another super primary schools netball league meeting tonight at The Bridge leisure, this time with Pool B opening up with its first meeting. Eight teams from six schools got stuck in and provided some fascinating fare, particularly as no team was able to dominate and probably seven of the teams will still feel a good second meeting can see them through to qualify for the second phase upper tier.
Kingslea lead after winning three of their four matches. Second place Shelley beat them 2-1 and have a game in hand but they also dropped points after drawing with North Heath A.
Castlewood’s fortunes swung erratically on the night between two wins and two defeats, one of which was an exciting 5-3 reverse against Kingslea. North Heath A lie a point behind them – they only lost to Southwater but also shipped points in two draws.
Southwater started their campaign badly going down 4-0 to Kingslea in their first match but then re-found their mojo with clean sheet victories over Castlewood and North Heath A. They currently lie fifth but with a game in hand look poised to mount an attack on top spot next time out. Greenway B outperformed their A team by gaining a win and a draw against the two North Heath outfits and lying on 11 points just below Southwater by goal difference could be dark horses for the top half finish required for upper tier passage.
North Heath B also gained a win that keeps them keen for meeting 2 given they also have a game in hand. Greenway A is the only team that looks consigned to a lower tier finish after three straight defeats. North Heath A knocked them for seven but they will take comfort from single goal deficits against North Heath B and especially high riding Shelley.
Meeting 2 of Pool B will take place on Thursday 27th November.
