The annual Horsham Primary Schools Swimming Gala ran at Pavilions in the Park this afternoon with seven schools taking part. Three schools entered the A teams event which was for teams that included some or all club swimmers. Secven took part in the B teams event in which club swimmers were excluded.

In the A teams event St Mary’s Horsham took an early lead after winning the first three races and never looked in any danger of relinquishing it as four second places followed by a win in the 4 x 50m medley relay kept their opponents, Shelley and All Saints, at a safe distance.

Southwater was similarly dominant in the B teams event winning seven out of the 8 races; the only small dent being a second place in the individual 50m freestyle. So the bigger question became who would join them on the podium. With one maximum and three second places Leechpool took runners-up spot and St Mary’s Horsham added bronze to their super swimming day.

A large contingent of parents watched proceedings to make for a great atmosphere that all the children responded brilliantly to.

Thanks to Laila Brown from the Horsham Atlantis Swimming Club for her support in officiating the event.
