The final Phase 1 Netball League meeting took place tonight with Pool B reaching its conclusion. There were a number of close and exciting matches and by the close of play Southwater had just managed to hold on to its top spot ahead of All Saints by virtue of goal difference.

In the first round of matches North Heath A lost their one hundred percent record as All Saints upset the applecart with a 3-1 win. Southwater then put the much fancied North Heath A on a another downer by winning a great game by the odd goal in seven. Heron Way made sure they took advantage of North Heath’s slide by winning its first two games against North Heath B and Shelley.

Whilst North Heath A got back on the winning trail versus their B team in Round 3 hopes of closing on Southwater were now a distant memory as the Southies achieved their fifth straight win versus Shelley and now All Saints making a late blindside run for glory, Castlewood being their third victory on the night, albeit a wafer thin one of 3-2.

So still all to play for in the last round of matches as Southwater and All Saints came together head to head. And what a fitting match to climax with All Saints winning 3-2 to finish on equal points, 27, but Southwater’s goal difference being three greater.

Southwater and All Saints through to the Phase B Upper Division but who would join them, Heron Way or North Heath A? The two meeting in the last round of matches would help answer that question. A clear victory for North Heath A would see them overhaul the Herons on goal difference but it was not to be as the two fought out the only draw of the round-robin.

Joining North Heath A in the Phase 2 Lower Division will be Castlewood who got their first two wins and pushed All Saints all the way, Shelley who suffered three defeats on their second outing but were never out of touch and North Heath B who finished bottom and will look forward to competing at a slightly lower level in Phase 2.
