Phase 1 Pool B of the primary schools netball league got underway tonight at The Bridge leisure centre with 3 courts in action.

Southwater were impressive winning all three of their encounters although near neighbours Castlewood made them work hard for their victory and so did Heron way in a high scoring match finishing 10-6. North Heath A are chasers-in-chief winning their two matches in comprehensive fashion and they’ll play their game-in-hand at the second Phase 1 meeting of the group, a night that will bring the big two together.

Heron Way had a good night winning their other two matches and look likely to figure in the upper reaches of the table by the end of the first phase round-robin. All Saints also only played two matches on the first night, winning one and losing by the odd goal in three to Heron Way.

Shelley’s 4-1 win over North Heath B ensured they didn’t finish meeting 1 in the basement of the table. Castlewood finished winless but met all the big guns in their first outing and can be satisfied with being competitive in all of them, so expect them to travel north in the table next time out.

North Heath B only played two but after a battering by Southwater recovered well to be in stronger contention against Shelley and grabbing a confidence-inducing consolation goal.
