The Horsham area primary schools tennis competition season came to a super climax tonight at Horsham Tennis Club with the year 3/4 and year 5/6 individual championships. Three schools entered players – Southwater, Holbrook and Castlewood – and it was two of the Southwater boys who ended up on top of their age group. Jayden won all his year 3+4 round-robin matches whilst at the older age group Josh won seven out his eight encounters and shared a draw in the other one.

In the 3/4s there was a real bunfight for second place with Holbrook’s Raghav just edging out Southwater duo Maisie and Finley with three wins by half a point as a consequence of the 10-10 the two played out when they met.

There were three shared results in the 5/6s too, exemplifying how competitive this nine-player round-robin was. Indeed champion Josh won three of his matches by one or two points only and his shared match was against sixth placed Jathan. Southwater’s Thomas evidenced his steady improvement  over the process by taking second spot, half a point in front of schoolmate Halle. Five wins for Liam from Holbrook made him the highest non-Southwater finisher.

Well done to all involved for a great display of tennis skills, umpiring application and fair play, and thanks to Horsham Tennis Club for its hosting and support.
