The Horsham Primary Schools Tennis League moved into doubles mode in its second week this afternoon at Horsham Tennis Club. A full complement of 24 players arrived to make for some good competition between the three teams in each age group.

In the Year 3+4s  well done to Holbrook for putting in an improved performance that bagged them more points than they gained last week, the 3-3 draw against Southwater being a particular highlight. However at the top end St Mary’s Horsham again asserted their quality to pull further ahead of their rivals, winning both their matches 4.5 to 1.5 and installing themselves as firm favourites for the title.

Holbrook turned on the style in the year 5+6 age group. They beat St Mary’s 6-0 although Rosanna and Holly nearly pulled off a shock in going down to Ethan and Deartrix 9-8 in one of the matches. There were lots of close games with the Southwater team and Thomas and Jayjay did manage to win one for the SJA but still Holbrook came away with a 4.5-1.5 against their chief rivals. Southwater also gave St Mary’s a hard time with a 5-1 result that keeps them in touch and with hope for overturning Holbrook’s lead in next week’s final league meeting.
