Southwater Take Year 5 Sports Hall Athletics Title

Southwater Junior Academy won the Year 5 sports hall athletics competition at Forest School yesterday. Covid challenges had unfortunately reduced the entry field to about half of what it was originally, including preventing Heron Way from going for a full house of triumphs, but you can only beat who’s there and certainly SJA did that in some style accumulating 443 points, 71 in front of nearest challengers Kingslea.

Leechpool weren’t far behind on 357 and in the battle of the smaller schools for fourth place St Mary’s Horsham were well in front of Castlewood by 333 to 261.

Forest School’s sports leaders were again excellent in their marshalling of the event, making a great team under the direction of event leader Dave Ingram.

And so brings the sports hall athletics event series to an end for this year. Well done to all involved for prevailing through omicron and providing some excellent competition. Already looking forward to next year’s events.
