Cross Country

We are looking forward to restarting the annual Horsham Schools Cross Country event, held at Christs Hospital School, on Tuesday 1st March. We haven’t been able to do it for a couple of years now for obvious reasons, so we are extremely grateful to Christs Hospital for hosting the event!

Details of the plan for the event:

– Please arrive at the school at 1pm, there will be a briefing at 1.20pm for staff, and a briefing for all runners at 1.30pm.

– The girls race will take place at 1.40pm, with the boys race scheduled to start at 2pm.

- On arrival, please follow the signs for parking and then directions on how to get to the field.

– Each school needs to bring a team of 6 girls and 6 boys. Currently we only have capability to host 1 team from each school, but should the uptake from schools not be as high as previous years, there may be some room for schools to have more than one team.

– Both races will have a distance of 1.35km (1 lap of the field)

– In terms of scoring the event, the top 4 runners from each school will have their finishing positions added together, and the team with the lowest score will be the school winners. For example, if your top 4 boys finished 8th, 11th, 13th and 20th your boys team score would be 52. Your 5th and 6th placed runners scores won’t be counted. This will be the same for the girls race too.

– The overall 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers in each race will be awarded individual medals, and the winning team will receive a trophy. My school currently has the boys trophy, which I will dig out, can the school who won the previous girls competition please bring it along.

– Parents are allowed to stay and watch the event, but please socially distance as best you can.

– In previous years, Christs Hospital have very generously put on teas/coffees and treats for the runners in their dining hall, but this won’t be possible this time around, so after the races have been completed, we will present the individual awards and the trophy outside, and then schools are free to leave.

Please email, if you wish to compete in this years Cross Country event. If you have any further questions, please do get in touch. This is my first time organising this particular event, but I will do my best to answer any questions you may have!
