50 children from school years 3 and 4 recently enjoyed an introduction to badminton skills at two festivals led by sports leader students from Collyers Sixth Form and facilitated by Horsham Sports Services.

Three schools sent teams of 10 to the events – two teams each from North Heath and St Mary’s Pulborough, and one from Southwater Junior Academy.

All children were wonderfully behaved and enthusiastic as they applied themselves to a schedule that started with warm-up activities, moved on to rotate around a core phase of 12 skill-stations, and then climax with a rallying and matchplay period.

Around 20 Collyers leaders, split half and half over the two event dates, did a brilliant job of supervising the children and ensuring everything ran successfully.
